What is a digital twin?
Digital Twin represents creating a virtual representation of the physical system that provides the connection between the real and virtual systems to collect and analyze data in the virtual model.
Digital Twin of a Real System

Digital twins eliminate the need for physical prototypes. They provide secure and green test environments for disruptive testing as well as providing cyclical innovation. By modeling entire value chains, virtual twins can improve the sustainability of products and services throughout their lifecycle, step by step: from designing for reuse to minimizing material use during production, estimating carbon emissions to reverse logistics modeling in Circular economy. In the product scope, a digital twin is a digital copy of a physical system designed to perform rapid numerical tests based on relevant mathematical models, the predictions of a digital twin must be identical to actual experimental data.
Simulation Lab as a Digital Twin
The simulation laboratory is a virtual laboratory of systems performance. In this laboratory, using simulation techniques, the behavior and performance of devices are evaluated and tested with relatively high accuracy without using test devices. Also, this laboratory gives information about the performance of systems, such as how the fluid moves in areas that are not usually evaluated in a physical laboratory.

Simulating the product and its performance instead of making a prototype and testing in the laboratory

Observing and evaluating phenomena that cannot be observed in a physical laboratory

Knowing the physical phenomena governing different products and components.
Simulation is a method that predicts the behavior of the phenomenon in different conditions by solving differential equations governing physical phenomena in a computational domain. Physical equations are applied by different software, and solving the equations is done using the processing server in SNOWATEC, due to the large number of calculations

Supermacro servers of the simulation lab, which are one of the main tools of the lab. The resources of the servers are assigned to the lab members according to the simulation lab projects. Graphical processing units (GPU), by increasing the speed of calculations, make simulation an optimal way to evaluate design during product development stages.
